Details of the course

 

BACHELOR OF EDUCATION  (B.ED.)

SEMESTER COURSE 2005-06 AND ONWARDS

1.      B.Ed. course is of two-semesters/1year duration.  The first semester shall extend over a period of 16 weeks and the second semester for a period of 16 weeks.

  

2.      The intake of students shall be as notified by the NCTE, State Government and the University.

 

3. Eligibility Criteria for Admission :

Candidates who have obtained the Bachelor’s degree of this University or of any other university recognized as equivalent thereto with any one language and at least two subjects of three electives specified below during all three years of course of study.

Languages : English, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Sanskrit.

Electives    :  Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, History,  Political Science, Sociology, Geography, Economics, English, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Sanskrit.

a.       Provided that the minimum marks, excluding the internal marks and the marks obtained in class examinations for the purpose of qualification specified above shall be:

i.        45% of marks in the aggregate of three years of study in respect of candidate belonging to SC/ST, Physically Handicapped and Cat-I candidates.

ii.     50% of marks in the aggregate of three years of study in respect of the other candidates.     

b.       Candidates who offer a language as one of the Methods of Teaching (MOTs) to be treated as equivalent in the list in 2.1  above, shall have studied the language for a paper of at least 200 marks either as basic or compulsory or even without a specific nomenclature during their Graduation Course. 

c.      Provided that candidates who have obtained a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from the Universities situated outside the Karnataka State should have studied at least two electives specified above in their three years course of study by appearing for one subject in the University examinations for at least two years and in the principal subjects for at least three years only and if there is any change of subject during the course of study of three years, such candidates shall not be eligible for admission to Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course.

d.      Candidates of other universities seeking admission to B.Ed. course of Karnatak University under Non-Govt. seats designated as, other seats category in aided and unaided institutions should necessarily attach the Eligibility Certificate issued by Karnatak University without which their applications shall be rejected.

e.      Provided further, that candidates suffering from disability exceeding 75 percent are not eligible for selection under these rules.

In all Colleges of Education admission of candidates shall be made in accordance with the Government orders issued from time to time in respect of (a) reservations and (b) quota for non-Karnatak students and any other special categories and in respect of any other aspect having a bearing on admissions.

4. Intake

Each College of Education shall adhere to the intake fixed by the Government, NCTE and the University periodically and shall also adhere to the ratio stipulated for Karnataka and non-Karnataka candidates.

Our College get to the permission taking 100 seats, 50 seats Govt. and 50 seats private seats. Our college have a co-education system.

 

5. Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction and examination shall be English or Kannada. 

 

6. Attendance

 

1.      Each semester shall be taken as a unit for purpose of calculating attendance.

 

2.      A student enrolled in the B.Ed. programme shall be deemed to have satisfied the requirement of attendance if he has attended not less than 80% of the total number of working days, which include lectures, seminars, practice teaching and practical work undertaken together during each semester.

 

7. Scheme of Instruction

          In the first semester there shall be 7 papers (4 Core papers + 2 MOTs + 1 Computer Education) and Practicum related to Practice teaching and to Community Oriented Activities.  In the second semester there shall be 7 papers (4 core papers + 2 MOTs + 1 optional paper) and Practicum related to Practice teaching and community oriented activities.  Each paper shall carry 100 marks except the papers in Methods of Teaching (MOTs) which shall carry 75 marks (vide Annexure – 1).

8. Internal Assessment

         In case of the theory papers excepting the MOTs, the internal assessment shall be for 20 theory marks, assessed through a test of 10 marks and one assignment/seminar for 10 marks. In MOT papers, the internal assessment shall be for 25 marks, assessed through a test of 10 marks, an assignment/seminar for 10 marks and participation in group activities for 5 marks.

1.      Sri Taralbalu Jagadguru College Education is situated in rural area and it is affiliated to Karnatak University Dharwad.

2.      The Local Inspection committee from KUD visited in the month of July2005

3.      Also NCTE team visited the college in the month of July 2004 and gives the recognition to this institution.

4.      We constructed new building with having all facilities and having well equipped information technology, psychology and language laboratories.

5.       In our college, we conduct tests, assignments, seminars, group discussion regularly. We conduct special coaching classes regularly. We also conduct science practical.
